Spotting Reliable Information

C = Currency

Currency is the article's publication date; I remind my students of this to help them understand why it's important and how simple it is to share something without checking its content. 

R = Relevance

Relevance indicates that students should see if there are other news articles on the same subject. Are there other sources discussing this? 

A = Authority

The author and the publication are referred to as authority. One of the best things to do is to "Google the author's name." Do they have credibility? Are they associated with any history or stream? 

P = Purpose

The term "purpose" describes the article's intention; is it to inform? Amuse yourself? Or is it an attempt to sell or convince?

One noteworthy tactic on student engagement is gamification in the classroom. It uses leaderboards, badges, and points to turn lessons into interactive quests. It's cool because it capitalizes on students' innate drive for success and enjoyment. Learning becomes an adventure as a result of this chan
